Rougaille

For a nice winter dinner, why not make a typically yummy Mauritian dish for a tropical sausage taste.

It can be served with white or brown rice and quite simple to make! A good meal for the cold times ahead.

Makes enough deliciousness for 2 people.

Ingredients:

4 pork sausages

½ onion

1 green and 1 red pepper, making it colourful

1 teaspoon of garlic paste

1 tin of tomato puree

More or less 4 tablespoons of olive oil

A pinch of herbs, salt and pepper

 

For the rice:

1 ½ cups of preferred rice

2 cups of water

 

Firstly start cooking the rice by adding both the rice and water into the rice-cooker and let it do it’s thing. Then slice the onions and peppers into fine pieces and fry with the olive oil, chop up the sausages and add to the frying pan. Once the sausages have cooked through, add the garlic paste and the tomato puree.

Leave to sizzle for +/- 10 minutes.

Serve all together and enjoy!
